Ted Lasso Season 4 set to release Summer 2026
Season four of the hit show sees Ted Lasso return to England to manage AFC Richmond’s new women’s team — Apple TV
Season four of the Emmy award winning Apple TV show has finally been given a release window with new details and photos also dropping.
Following the conclusion of season three, it was feared by the adoring fanbase that their favourite coach would not be back. Season three ended with Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) leaving AFC Richmond to return to his son in the United States. A fourth season without Sudeikis was widely speculated but alas, almost three years on, season four has been billed to release this summer with Ted Lasso returning to AFC Richmond. This time he is “taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.”
In what feels like a return to the dynamics of the first season — Lasso taking charge of a second division team, in an unfamiliar environment—it is refreshing to see the showrunners go in a new direction instead of continuing a story that had already peaked. It is realistic of the football world and also taps into one of the fastest-growing spectacles in sport right now.
Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt are joined by Tanya Reynolds in the new season releasing this summer — Apple TV
Returning cast members include Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Jeremy Swift and Annette Badland. They are joined by Tanya Reynolds, best known for her role as Lily Iglehart on the Netflix comedy-drama Sex Education, alongside other new faces Jude Mack, Faye Marsey, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, Grant Feely.
It is not yet clear if other original cast members such as Phil Dunster, Nick Mohammed and Toheeb Jimoh will reprise their roles. Season four wrapped filming this week in England so fans will have to wait until the first trailer is dropped to find out more.
After being nominated for 61 Emmys and winning 13, it should not be too much of a surprise that the worldwide hit comedy is returning to our screens. It is not easy to get sport right on screen. There have been lots of failures over the years but Ted Lasso has mostly got it right from the start. Its strong writing and powerful performances made fans fall in love with the show when it first aired, bringing a whole new demographic to the world of football.
An exact date has not yet been given but with the FIFA World Cup taking place this summer, expect the release to coincide with the tournament.
